The father of an 18 year old killed in a motorbike crash near Bendigo was expected to hear whether his cancer treatment had been successful the week his son died.

Tyler McGlashan, who has been riding since he was three, died after his motorbike collided with a car towing a trailer on Bendigo-Maryborough Rd near Boswell Rd, near Bendigo, about 7.45pm March 9.

It is believed emergency crews, bystanders and police performed CPR at the scene for more than an hour before Tyler was pronounced dead at 8.50pm.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

It has since been revealed this is the latest tragedy in a series of events for Tyler’s family.

His dad and grandfather have been battling cancer for the past six months, with his dad Lucas unable to work and in and out of a coma.

Tyler’s death left his family heartbroken and with no time to prepare costs for a funeral service a GoFundMe has been set up to help.

The organiser of the fundraiser, Kaleb Frost, said he hoped it would take some stress away from the tragic situation.

“If we can all pitch in together and give Tyler the goodbye he deserves that would mean the world to his family and friends,” Kaleb said on GoFundMe page.

He said Tyler, who was about to start his third year of a plumbing apprenticeship, will live on “forever young and forever wild”.

Last week Maddison McGlashan, Tyler’s sister, posted on social media saying “nothing has prepared” her for the loss of her brother.

“My darling Tyler. Nothing has ever prepared me for this, I’m waiting to wake up from this bad dream,” she said.

“I’m waiting for you to walk through the door and make an absolute ruckus of everything. I am waiting for you to come home. I need you here.”

Priya Swain was close with Tyler for six years and is now coming to terms with the fact she won’t be seeing her close friend again.

“He would always without fail put a smile on everyone's face, there was never a dull moment when you were with him,” she said.

“There really are no words to describe the incredible person he was.”

She said he was a “gorgeous” boy, “so full of life” and had been robbed of his potential.

“He had so much ahead of him, so much potential and has so many people that love him, more than he ever knew.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage or any other information that could help police is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
