Strathfieldsaye Primary School has celebrated its 150th anniversary with a reunion for all of its former students.
Principal Cindi Bruechert said several generations of many families attended the event on Saturday, September 9.
Among them was Tony McEniry who was accompanied by his five younger brothers and sisters to the event.
He was interviewed by students on stage about his school experiences, which included making the local paper after winning four events at a combined school sports day.
The reunion included an unveiling of a commemorative mural, performances from current students and displays of photos and records through the decades.
A lot of former students looked through old class pictures and found images of themselves as children.
Diane Waddington, Rae Munro and Jenny Henderson reconnected with old friends they hadn’t seen since primary school.
“We loved going to this school,” Ms Waddington said.
“We had 12 kids in our class.
“A lot of us stay in touch but there have been people here today who we haven’t seen since leaving school.”
The school was first established in 1873 at a shire hall and moved to its current site in Uxbridge St one year later with 40 students.
It now has more than 550 student and 60 teaching and support staff.
