A Bendigo primary school is grieving after some of it’s much-loved pet chickens were slaughtered by a intruder in the first week of Term 3.
A Victoria Police spokesman said a man, perceived to be of small build and wearing a white hooded top, was caught on CCTV attending the school in White Hills at around 7pm on July 13.
“Police are investigating an incident of theft and animal cruelty at a primary school,” he said.
“The man jumped a fence into the school’s chicken coop, killing a number of chickens and then fleeing the scene, taking some of the chickens with him.”
Parents at the school expressed outrage online, describing the devastating incident as “sick”.
“The kids were told a fox must have got in,” one woman wrote on social media.
“What is wrong with people?”
