A developer has flagged plans to build a $1.8m childcare centre across the road from Eaglehawk Secondary College.
The proposed facility, developed by SIWAS Investments Pty Ltd, will include five children’s rooms, an outdoor play space and various amenities all designed to accommodate 110 children with a team of 24 staff members.
The site would operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, and provide 26 on-site parking spaces.
An operator of the site has not been identified at this stage.
Town planners for the developer stated the proposed childcare centre was ideally located nearby six primary schools, making it easier for families to access schools and childcare.
An existing house on the 2142 sqm site would be demolished to make way for the new childcare facility that is expected to have a total a floor area of about 690 sqm – 31 per cent site coverage.
The building will be constructed of brick, render, Scyon Matrix cladding and colourbond roof, windows and doors.
The developer told council their plans will “integrate well” with the surrounding area and “contribute positively to the neighbourhood’s character”.
The carpark will front Bright St, with the developer planning to landscape the boundary to “soften” the view from the street.
Bright St is a busy collector road that feeds onto the main arterial road of Eaglehawk Rd and the Loddon Malle Hwy.
The developer claims the new facility “will not cause traffic issues for the local road network or surrounding residential area”, however, a traffic impact assessment report was not made available.
The site is also located 1.5km away from an ALDI Supermarket and just 75m away from a bus stop on Jobs Gull Rd and Bright St.
