Police investigate assaults at troubled Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre
A worker at Malmsbury youth prison reportedly had their teeth knocked out while trying to break up a fight at the trouble-plagued centre.

Three youth justice workers have been assaulted at a trouble-plagued prison in Central Victoria.
Police are investigating an assault at Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre about 4pm on Thursday after two victims were taken to hospital with serious facial injuries.
One of the staff members involved was reportedly punched in the face while trying to break up a fight.
Sources say he suffered a hairline fracture to his nose and had teeth knocked out.
Another assault was also believed to have occured at the centre last Thursday when a staff member was struck to the back of head.
It comes after police were called to the centre on Tuesday night after a youth justice worker was taken to hospital.
Community and Public Sector Union spokesperson Julian Kennelly said the 50-year-old’s worker's nose was broken, and their teeth knocked out.
Mr Kennelly said the worker was punched in the face and it was “completely unprovoked”.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the worker was assaulted just before 7pm on Tuesday night.
Last year it was revealed assaults by detainees send youth justice workers to hospital at an average rate of almost one a month.
Figures indicated the Parkville and Malmsbury youth justice centres were among the most hazardous workplaces in Australia.
In August youth prison workers said they were prepared to walk out of the Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre amid violent attacks and poor working conditions.
