Maryborough rescue operation to save man stuck 12m up tree

A man has been saved after being stuck 12m up a tree in a Central Victorian park for more than three hours.
Emergency services spent three hours in a high-angle rescue which shut down a Maryborough park on Monday afternooon.
A Country Fire Authority spokesman said a high-angle rescue was needed after a person got stuck in a tree in Maryborough, 70km southwest of Bendigo.
It is understood the man became stuck at Phillips Botanical Gardens, on Napier St, at 2pm.
“The person is stuck about 12 metres up, at the top of the tree,” the CFA spokesman said.
State Emergency Services, Victoria Police and Fire Rescue Victoria crews are also on scene.
A State Emergency Services spokesman said the rescue was into its third hour, with police operating as the lead agency in the rescue.
A Victoria Police spokesman said Search and Rescue Unit members were called to the scene to help and the park was closed.
He said the man was safely removed from the tree at 5.26pm.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man was taken to Bendigo Health.
His condition is not yet known.
