A man has been raced to hospital following a horrific rollover on a rural road, north of Bendigo.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to treat a man in his 30s following a single-vehicle rollover at Bamawm at 2pm on Monday.

She said the air ambulance was initially dispatched to the single vehicle rollover, but was recalled so he could be driven to Bendigo hospital.

A State Emergency Services spokesman said volunteers had battled through scrub and bush to reach the man 75km from Bendigo.

It’s understood the man was in the car when if rolled into trees on Bamawm Rd, between Middleton Rd and Strathallan Rd at 2.05pm.

The SES spokesman said volunteers had managed to clear a path to the vehicle for paramedics.

“The cabin is crushed,” the spokesman said.

The Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man was in a stable condition with upper body injuries.

Country Fire Authority volunteers and Victoria Police were also at the scene.

More to come.
