Police have charged two men over a spate of car thefts following several raids, including at a residence connected to a popular Bendigo cafe.

Police raided several locations in Bendigo on Wednesday morning, allegedly seizing stolen cars including a Subaru and Holden Colorado, and an imitation firearm, stolen credit cards, and tools connected to alleged car thefts.

One location raided included a residence connected to the Fox and Giraffe cafe on Bridge St and a storage shed on Gray St, Golden Square where two cars were seized.

Both Mr Adams and Mr Caulfield presented to Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday where they did not apply for bail and were remanded in custody.

Response Manager Detective Inspector Dan Davison said the arrests should send a “strong message” to alleged car thieves that Bendigo police would stop at nothing to “put a stop to the (alleged) recent spate of vehicle-related offences”.

“This type of alleged offending causes real harm to victims and impacts people just going about their daily lives,” he said.

“The community can be assured we’re doing everything we can to hold those responsible to account.”
