A Bendigo man has been charged with the sexual blackmail of a teen girl, allegedly hacking her snapchat and using stolen images of self-harm and sexual images to torment her.

A Bendigo man has been charged with the sexual blackmail of a teen girl, allegedly hacking her snapchat and using stolen images of self-harm and sexual images to torment her and force her to send him vile child abuse material.

Jake Dilan Fowke, 32, faced Bendigo Magistartes’ Court on Wednesday charged with hundreds of stalking, hacking an child abuse charges relating to an alleged months long campaign of torment and sexual exploitation of a teenage girl between Agust and September 2021.

Mr Fowke, who has been on bail, again delayed proceedings as his defence lawyers dragged out negotiations on a potential plea deal to 226 charges relating to the sextorition of the teenage girl.

Police allege Mr Fowke sexually blackmailed the child into sending him sexual material.

The court heard the negotiations had been hung up by contention over a single charge among the hundreds.

Documents tendered to the court allege Mr Fowke tormented the child over images of self harm that he accessed while hacking her snapchat, with police alleging he was mocking her and intimidating her with the intention of causing her to further self harm.

Mr Fowke also allegedly threatened to distribute the sexual images he accessed through her Snapchat if she did not send him vile child abuse material.

Police allege Mr Fowke called the child on Facetime and “repeatedly demanded she touch her vagina”.

Police allege Mr Fowke mocked and tormented the teenage girl over images of self harm.

Mr Fowke is further charged with the transition of child abuse material.

Mr Fowke, who had previously been ordered to appear at court in person, dialled in remotely.

Mr Fowke’s defence lawyers once again asked for an adjournment as both sides continued to negotiate a plea deal.

Prosecutor Zoe Hough told the court the negotiations were hung up on a single charge out of hundreds, but the parties were “very close to resolution”.

Magistrate Megan Aumair granted the adjournment to July 10, but warned the next time the matter returned, it would be in the County Court one way or another.

Ms Aumair ordered that Mr Fowke show up to court in person in July, telling him it was “non-neogitable”.
