Jack ‘Fernatik’ Ferguson-Michel pleads guilty to threatening to kill cop after viciously abusing woman

A central Victorian thug threatened to kill a police officer and go after his kids at their school after he was arrested for the vicious abuse of a woman.

A wannabe rapper who threatened a police officer’s children wants out of jail so he can undergo therapy, blaming his “vile” offending on a traumatic childhood.

Jack ‘Fernatik’ Ferguson-Michel, 27, pleaded guilty at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to charges relating to threatening to kill a woman — who called the police on him — and a police officer.

It comes after police were called to a Heathcote home in April following reports Fergus-Michel had abused a different woman — which he has not been charged for.

The court heard Ferguson-Michel was “abusive, aggressive and threatening” towards responding police, calling officers “pig dog c—s”.

The unemployed amateur rapper, who posts hip-hop videos on YouTube, was pepper sprayed twice as continued to spew vitriol and abuse, before turning to one officer and threatening to kill him, saying: “I know where you live”.

“I know where your kids go to school, I’ll be coming for you … the job won’t protect you now, you pig c--t,” he said.

“If it’s not me that comes it will be someone else, I promise”.

When he was released from custody just before midnight at the time, Ferguson-Michel immediately jumped into a car, unlicensed, and sought retribution against the person who had alerted police that he was abusing a woman.

He called the woman a “dumb s--t, inbred s--t” and threatened to kill members of her family.

He then took a car and did burnouts outside her house before he crashed into a tree stump.

His lawyer argued he should be released after spending 93 days in custody so he could undergo therapy.

The defence blamed Ferguson-Michel’s “vile” and “menacing” offending on “developmental trauma” inflicted by his parents’ drug abuse, claiming he “needs help”.

Ferguson-Michel said he had learned his lesson and was ready to turn his life around, wanting to complete the men’s behaviour change program.

Magistrate Sharon McRae said “a lot of people have epiphanies in custody”, making promises to change their behaviour if they were released.

Ms McRae said Ferguson-Michel had been given countless opportunities in the last four years to seek help and change his behaviour while serving community corrections orders for abusing women but had instead shown an “escalating” pattern of offending against women that was “clearly off the rails”.

The court heard the woman Ferguson-Michel allegedly abused — which prompted another woman to dial triple-0 — was “too scared to talk to police”.

He has not been charged with abusing her.

Police argued Ferguson-Michel had “complete defiance of any authority”.

Ms McRae said she “wasn’t convinced” that Ferguson-Michel shouldn’t receive further prison time, ordering a community corrections report be conducted.

Ferguson-Michel will be sentenced in August.
