GoFundMe campaign for Bendigo mum with cancer

A local community is rallying around a mum-of-three after her tragic terminal cancer diagnosis. See how you can help.

The Bendigo community is rallying around a mum of three diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Rebecca Dean had been suffering with migraines all her life when she felt something was off.

After a check up at the gp and an MRI ,it was revealed the 41-year-old had many brain swellings across her head.

With a referral to a neurosurgeon and risky biopsy, she got the news no one wants to hear – terminal brain cancer.

Close friend Michelle Grose has started a GoFundMe campaign to help Ms Dean and her family deal with any out of pocket costs while undergoing treatment.

“We have no way of taking the emotional pain away for Bec and her family, but we can help ease the financial pain at present and in the future,” she posted to the page.

Ms Dean’s biggest supporters, according to Ms Grose, have been her husband of 17 years Mark Dean and three beautiful children aged 14, 12 and 9.

“Her caring and empathetic nature is felt by all that know her, she is a loving, dedicated mum to her three beautiful children,” she said.

Ms Grose described her friend a true “inspiration".

“A common sentiment Bec has made clear throughout this ordeal is ‘As long as Mark and the kids are good, I am good, and despite how bad I feel, I’ll be smiling’,” Ms Grose posted.

After six weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy treatment, there has so far been no further tumour growth but “it’s still too early to determine if the treatment is working”.

So far more than $8000 has been raise. To give your support, click here.
