It’s been years in the making and now the Victorian calisthenics championship competition is just days away.
Bendigo has been announced as the host city for the prestigious titles which will draw people from around the state.
More than 1000 competitors, coaches, families and support crew will descend on the region during the first week of the school holidays.
The competitions will be held at the Ulumbarra Theatre, making the first time the championships have been held since 2019.
Calisthenics Victoria chief executive Jennifer McIntyre said all participants were getting revved up for the event.
“Our performers have been rehearsing all year and have competed at local competitions in preparation for their state championships in Bendigo,” she said.
Students from Bendigo’s Sabelle Calisthenics school will defend their title from 2019.
The competition will be held from September 21 - 25.
Competitors aged as young a three will participate, through the masters division.
“It is a beautiful venue for both audiences and performers to enjoy” Ms McIntyre said.
“Calisthenics is the sport with performing at its heart. It offers a unique combination of dancing, singing, gymnastics and technical skill.”
Ms McIntyre said there were more than 7000 performers across Victoria.
