Colourful Easter celebration takes over Bendigo’s CBD

Streets were cordoned off and traffic redirected around the CBD on Sunday to allow thousands of people to spill across the roads and take in the sights of the first Bendigo Easter parade in years.
The floats were back and performers, groups, clubs and even coffee shops took to the streets to celebrate a unique local blend of Bendigo interests.
A wash out in 2022 and years of lockdowns had pushed the parade from the calendar but it was back alongside carnival rides and market stalls for the annual Easter festival.
The Bendigo Whovians, dressed as former doctors, were pursued along the street by a range of daleks.
Bowser Bean coffee shop, which raises funds for Make a Wish, had its kombi van join the parade.
The Agnico Eagle gold mine mascots and part of its workforce joined in and stilt walkers also made their way through the parade.
