Bendigo business leaders and philanthropists gathered at the Bendigo Health Gala Ball fundraiser to raise money for the hospital.

Well-to-do Bendigonians arrived dressed to the nines on Saturday night at the Red Energy Arena to raise funds towards Bendigo Health’s Cancer Wellness Program.

Organised by McKean McGregor property group, the event fundraises the $200,000 and more required to run the free program for Bendigo cancer patients.

The Cancer Wellness Program provided 500 patients with 2000 free treatments last year, Bendigo Health Board chair Ewa Piejko said.

Bendigo Health’s Cancer Wellness Program provides oncology massage, reflexology, cancer rehabilitation, yoga, meditation, pet therapy and mental health support.

The program requires $200,000 in donations to remain active, with $260,000 raised at last year’s fundraiser.

“We really appreciate that community fundraising events like this, combined with our generous donors, help fund the ongoing sustainability of an important service for cancer patients and their families,” Dr Piejko said.
