Wonthaggi police search for would-be motorbike thieves

Two would-be thieves who attempted to steal motorbikes from a dealership have evaded police during a pursuit in Wonthaggi.

Wonthaggi Police are on the hunt for two men after they broke into the Wonthaggi Motorcycle Shop on Tuesday morning.

Police were called about 7am by occupants of the building after the two offenders were seen cutting a wire fence around the property.

Police believe the pair were trying to steal motorcycles.

However, when the cops arrived, the pair took off in two cars leading to a police chase.

They managed to avoid capture.

Police are now on the lookout for a silver Holden Rodeo ute and a silver Toyota Corolla.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Wonthaggi Police Station.
