A woman is in hospital after a Mercedes Benz smashed into a popular Chinese restaurant in Cowes on Wednesday night, trapping passengers inside.
The car drove into the brick wall of Wing Ho about 7.20pm.
Ambulance Victoria said a woman in her 60s was taken to Wonthaggi Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
A number of other people were assessed at the scene.
Two kitchen staff inside when the crash happened said the “sound was scary” but were thankful no one was hurt.
Three fire trucks, volunteer firefighters from Phillip Island Fire Brigade and police responded to reports a car had smashed into the shopfront on Thompson Ave.
Emergency services are still at the scene and the driver is assisting police with their enquiries.
