Jarrod Eagles: Wonthaggi man faces court over alleged police pursuit
A Wonthaggi man who allegedly stole a car, sped and led police on a wild chase that stretched more than 40km has faced court.

A Wonthaggi man accused of stealing a car and leading police on a wild pursuit across the Bass Coast has faced court.
Jarrod Eagles, 23, appeared via video link at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on August 24 after he was charged with 30 offences including theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering life, dangerous driving while pursued by police and driving while disqualified.
Police will allege Eagles stole a Land Rover Evoque valued at $20,000 from a property in Meeniyan between August 12 and August 13.
Court documents allege that Eagles ignored police direction to stop driving in Anderson on August 23 where he was allegedly speeding at 145km/h.
Police will also allege that stop sticks were used on the Bass Highway in The Gurdies but Eagles allegedly continued to drive on popped tyres.
He allegedly damaged another vehicle in Lang Lang before continuing on the South Gippsland Highway to Caldermeade.
Eagles’ co-accused, an 18-year-old Cowes man, was charged with theft of motor vehicle and bailed to appear at the Korumburra Magistrates’ Court on December 2.
Eagles was also charged with a string of driving offences that occurred in San Remo on August 21.
The man was remanded with no application of bail made.
He will return to court on September 9.
