A Gippsland pizza shop owner who downed a couple of shots has been booted off the roads for four years because of a “significant history” of drink driving.
Shaun Lyndon, 31, appeared via an online web link at the Bairnsdale Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to refusing a evidentiary breath test.
The court heard Lyndon was driving in Bairnsdale when he was pulled over in September last year.
Lyndon was breath tested and asked by officers to accompany them to the Bairnsdale police for a secondary test, but he refused, telling he had prior convictions for drink driving.
Lyndon, who was self-represented, told the court he was “extremely regretful” for his actions.
“I know I’ve got to deal with some punishment — and I do apologise this has happened,” the single dad said.
“I stupidly drove after a couple of shots — I know I’ve got to deal with the consequences because what I could have done could have harmed people.”
Magistrate Andrew Halse said Lyndon had a “significant history”.
Lyndon was convicted, fined $250 and his licence was disqualified for four years.
