A fed-up community member has sent a clear message to the local council, tagging it in offensive graffiti around a large pothole in the state’s southeast.
The “street artist” sprayed an image of a giant penis around the pothole on Ullathornes Rd in Inverloch.
Nikki Kelly shared images of the pothole on social media after spotting the graffiti.
The post sparked both humour and frustration among Bass Coast locals, who were all too familiar with the pothole.
“Let me guess, Ullathornes Rd — I’ve been dodging this for a while now — the hole I mean,” user Tracey Harrison commented.
“Made my day — that pothole is awful,” wrote Josie Eynaud.
“I had a laugh driving over this and was grateful that it stood out,” Kim Anne shared.
“Whoever is responsible for repairing the road won’t fix it — but they will send a truck and three employees out to get rid of the graffiti and it would have cost the same amount to fix the pothole,” Wonthaggi local Garry Wilson wrote.
“Clearly someone decided to take things into their own hands,” said Corey Quinn.
Ms Kelly later shared an update that the pothole had been filled with asphalt and the graffiti removed.
Followers suggested the Snap Send Solve app had been used to report the pothole, prompting authorities to take action.
A Bass Coast Shire Council spokesperson said they were alerted by a community member about the pothole on Tuesday afternoon.
“Our maintenance crew went out the next morning and fixed it,” the spokesperson said.
“We encourage community members to report potholes directly to council by visiting the form on our website at basscoast.vic.gov.au/contact or giving us a call on 1300 BCOAST (226 278) or (03) 5671 2211.”
