Princes Hwy in Morwell closed after grass fire breaks out nearby, trains halted due to the blaze’s proximity to the railway line
A grass fire that broke out on the side of the freeway in the Latrobe Valley caused the busy stretch of road to be closed with a nearby train line also shut.

Emergency services have tackled a grass fire that started broke out on the side of the freeway in the Latrobe Valley.
FRV and CFA crews responded to the scene the Princes Freeway in Morwell just before 2pm on Tuesday.
“Firefighters arrived on scene within seven minutes to find a grass fire on both sides of the freeway,” an FRV spokeswoman said.
“Approximately 2km of grass and scrub was on fire between railway lines and the highway.”
Trains were temporarily halted due to the fire’s proximity to the railway line and the freeway was closed for some time.
A helicopter unit supported ground operations and the incident was deemed under control at 2.45pm.
