Popular vegan cafe in tourist hotspot up for sale
A “unique” and popular cafe right in the heart of one of Victoria’s most popular tourist destinations is up for sale.

The owners of a popular Phillip Island cafe are looking to hand over the reins to their successful little business in order to spend more time as a family.
The owners of Phillip Island Wholefoods said they are torn about selling the business they have had for the past four years, as they have loved the chance to engage with the community but are also looking to be more flexible with their time.
“It’s been a great business for us, both financially and in terms of being able to engage with the community. But, we’re also looking to travel a bit more while our kids are still quite young, so we have to become a bit more flexible with our time,” Owner Tom Kendall said.
The cafe, which is a 100 per cent plant based and plastic free cafe, is listed for just $175,000 plus stock at valuation.
Since the cafe opened its doors in 2015, it has been a mainstay of the Phillip Island community.
Island Wholefoods is located in the busy town of Cowes, just a short stroll off the main street and conveniently next to a busy supermarket.
It also stock in house sauces that “fly off the shelves” whenever they are in stock.
“Island Wholefoods is a local favourite with a great reputation and strong support from the community. Plus the indoor and outdoor seating options make this venue appropriate for year-round business,” the listing reads.
The sale also includes the established website and domain name, along with all the social media channels that all have a vested following.
Mr Kendall said they have had really great support from the community with the sale.
“If we were to sell, we’d need to start those discussions now for a new owner to be ready for high-season madness. Really, we just feel like if it’s meant to sell now, it will. If not, then it’s just not the time yet and we’re happy to keep running,” he said.
He also said regardless of what happens with the sale they will always be around.
“We’ve gotten quite close to a number of who are definitely more friends than customers now, so we’ll always be staying in touch,” he said.
