Vile sex fiend swapped sexual pics, videos, of children and said he wanted to ‘do a toddler’

A vile deviant told other sex fiends that he “needed to find a toddler” after exchanging videos and photos of children as young as two being subjected to sexual abuse.

A vile sex offender who told other deviants in online chats that he “needed to find a toddler” has had his identity hidden by court.

The man from South Eastern Victoria was caught exchanging videos and photographs of children as young as two being sexually abused, and continued to offend after being arrested and bailed.

But the Herald Sun is prevented from naming the creep, who was granted the pseudonym Todd Jones when he faced the County Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to a string of charges relating to possessing and transmitting child abuse material.

Jones started using mobile messaging program Telegram in September 2020 to connect with people and “trade” child abuse material, the court heard.

He would send pictures and videos and also ask for them in return, engaging in both private chats and a group chat named “Kindergarten”.

The court heard in one chat there was material which depicted children as young as two being abused.

Jones responded to videos and pictures he received by saying things like “mmmm hot”.

The court heard he told another Telegram user he was horny and prefered content of young boys.

When discussing a video of a toddler shared in one of his chats the court heard he asked the other user “where can we find one?” and discussed sexual fantasies involving children.

“We need to do a toddler together,” another user said to Jones.

“Yes we do hehe,” he replied.

Another picture Jones received in a chat depicted a naked young boy with vile writing on his chest.

There were also images and videos of children being bound, gagged and abused by adults.

During a search warrant Australian Federal Police also found a folder on his phone containing almost 800 child abuse images.

He was arrested and bailed in 2021, before continuing to offend earlier this year when he was busted with social media apps on his phone.

It was a condition of his bail that he was not allowed to access the internet, including having social media profiles.

Police found Snapchat, Reddit, Telegram and google search history all revealed further offending, with searches for topics related to child abuse material and images stored in Snapchat.

As the prosecutor read out the charges in court Jones could be seen reaching for the tissues and wiping his eyes as he sat in his prison greens on a video link into the courtroom.

The court heard Jones told police he had become “entwined” with a “sadistic” group and wanted to see the makers of the content punished.

Ms Darcy Dempsey, acting for Jones, submitted to the court the offending occurred during a period of hardship for Jones after he lost his cleaning job due to Covid lockdowns.

He was also in the middle of a marriage breakdown after he began to “explore his sexuality” and had an affair with a friend.

Judge Gabriele Cannon said it was “breathtaking” that he not only engaged in the offending to begin with but then continued to do it after he had already been caught once.

She also said people struggled with their sexuality every day but it didn’t mean they turned to child abuse material.

“It is all evil,” she said.

But the Herald Sun is prevented from naming the man or detailing the location of his offending due to a court-imposed gag order.

Jones will return to court for sentencing next month.
