A Newborough man has been slapped with 43 charges relating to an alleged major Holden Special Vehicles rebirthing ring across Victoria’s southeast.

A Newborough man is facing more than 40 charges at a Gippsland court over an alleged major Holden Special Vehicles rebirthing ring that spanned across two months in the state’s southeast.
Sean Lindner appeared via an online web link at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for a mention hearing.
Court documents revealed Mr Lindner was facing 43 charges including the theft of a bunch of cars, including Holden Commodores valued between $60,000 and $75,000, a Holden Caprice valued at $28,000, Nissan Patrol Warriors valued at $100,000 and $110,000, and a Nissan patrol valued at $101,000.
Other charges include handling stolen goods, entering a private property without lawful excuse, trespassing at a Berwick property with an intent to steal, displaying fake number plates, possessing a drug of dependence, stealing registration plates and stealing a total of $384 worth of petrol.
It’s alleged the 30-year-old dishonestly handled stolen car parts, including an engine, rear bumpers, a boot lid and a Holden Station Wagon Clubman interior.
Two of the stolen cars allegedly had their window vehicle identification numbers replaced, with the stamped floor VINs cut out and replaced, electronic control units replaced and engine numbers ground off.
According to the charge sheets, the alleged offending took place between April 5 and June 5 this year.
Defence lawyer Stephen Peterson represented Mr Lindner and made an application to adjourn all matters to August.
Mr Peterson told Magistrate Natalie Heynes there was also an application for bail scheduled this month.
Ms Heynes adjourned the hearing until later this month and Mr Lindner was remanded until then.
