A Gippsland truckie admitted he did horrible things and sent “terrible texts” to a woman, but doesn’t believe he is a threat to people, a court has heard.

Christopher Grogan – who is in custody – appeared at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for a bail application hearing.

Senior Constable Jonah Ferguson-Scanlon said Grogan had previously been convicted of a charge of threat to kill and that he caused harm to the woman and that his behaviour was very unpredictable.

He added Grogan was “quick to erupt in bursts of anger”, extremely aggressive and showed no respect or remorse for his offending.

The court heard Grogan had sent 50 messages across different online platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and emails to the woman.

Grogan had also transferred money to the woman’s bank account — in an attempt to communicate with her — with written captions in the transfers.

He also referred to the woman as a “c---” and the court heard the woman “just wants it to end”.

“I said some horrible things, terrible texts,” Grogan told the court.

“I don’t believe I’m a threat – I’m not a threat to people.”

Magistrate Alanna Duffy was not satisfied and refused to release him on bail.

The matter was adjourned to later this month.
