Two of former AFL stars will head down to regional Victoria to play in a one-off game in the West Gippsland Football League.

Jarryd Roughead and Bob Murphy will play for Inverloch-Kongwak against Tooradin Dalmore on Saturday, April 17, at Inverloch Recreation Reserve.

Both stars have connections to the club with Roughead’s brother Cameron playing for the Sea Eagles and Murphy’s brother in-law Ben Soumilas coaching the seniors.

Inverloch-Kongwak Football Netball Club president Peter Butcher said Roughead and Murphy have been around the club for years.

“They both have done two sportsman nights over the past three years so they have been a big part of the club,” Mr Butcher said.

“It’s not like they are coming down to play for big money.”

It will be the first time the Roughead brothers play a senior game of football together.

Cameron Roughead told The Bass Coast News the game will be something to look back on in years to come.

“It’s something we have both been looking forward to since Jarryd announced his retirement,” he said.

“Obviously we had a few games pencilled in last year but with the season being shut down we thought we may never get the chance.”

Even though the crowd is capped at 5000, it’s set to bring a large number of visitors to Inverloch.

“I’m sure it will be a great draw card for the local community to have Bob and Jarryd both pull on the Inverloch-Kongwak jumper,” Cameron said.

Mr Butcher said excitement was already growing in the area.

“We have been getting phone calls and inquiries about tickets everyday,” he said.

“It’s going to be huge”.

Cameron said the players are excited about playing with two AFL legends.

“We have a young team at Inverloch this year, therefore those 18-21 year old boys having the chance to play alongside and learn from Jarryd and Bob will be a great experience,” he said.

General admission tickets are priced at $12 and can be purchased from the front gates on the day.
