A Yarram woman who has been battling brain cancer for years has only four to six months left to live, her doctors say.

After an operation to remove cancer from her brain in 2022, Trudi Henderson’s family were hopeful she was free from the deadly disease.

However, doctors then discovered another mass in her brain, but kept it under control with radiation.

Then in December last year, Ms Henderson and her family were given the devastating news that four to five new masses had developed in her brain, while also being diagnosed with leptomeningeal disease.

Her daughter, Teigan Brown has organised a GoFundMe page — which has raised almost $8000 — to help raise funds for her mother’s treatment, before they say their final goodbyes.

“Since then our lives have been full of appointments, scans, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy,” Ms Brown wrote in the fundraiser.

“While all of this has given us some extra time with our mum — which we are so grateful for — it hasn’t come without a price tag.

“She has been unable to work since January and the cost of living and surviving in the world has sadly put her in an awful position.”

Ms Brown said she was encouraged by a few people to organise a GoFundMe as her mum was on the verge of losing her rental property and had exhausted all her savings.

“Asking for help is not something I’m good at but please if you can help our mum in anyway we would be forever grateful,” she wrote.

“She deserves to live stress free with whatever time she has left.”

Meanwhile, Yarram coffee palace owner Paige Eaton showed her support to Trudi and her family by organising a raffle, with all the money going towards the cause.

“If any local business would like to put a voucher or something similar into this hamper it would be greatly appreciated,” Ms Eaton said.

“I will also have a donation tin for anyone that is able to give some extra.

“I can only imagine the heartache this beautiful family are going through.”

The winners of the raffle will be announced on Monday.

“Thank you so very much Yarram and surrounds for your amazing support these last couple of weeks,” Ms Eaton shared to the Yarram coffee palace Facebook page.
