A deranged disability support worker who took naked photos of a young boy while he showered, did it for “cash”, a court has heard.
Glen Akin, 30, pleaded guilty at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court to producing, distributing and possessing child abuse material.
The court heard Akin was employed as a carer for children with disabilities.
Akin followed a young boy, who normally showered without help, into a bathroom in January 2021.
Akin took a photo of the naked boy and forwarded the image onto two males through the social media apps Telegram Messenger and Grindr.
Akin told other carers on duty that the boy “didn’t know how to clean his penis” so he had to “show him how to wash it”.
Police searched Akin’s Warragul property in April and located an iPhone and two iPads.
The iPhone had naked photos of the boy from the waist down.
In a police interview, Akin said he took photos of the young boy for another person who offered him cash.
A forensic analysis was conducted and large quantity of vile child abuse material was discovered including 14 videos and 238 images on Akin’s iPhone.
He will return to court on September 30.
