An elderly man has died at a bus loop of a South Gippsland school after he suffered a medical episode on the way to the hospital.

An elderly man has died after suffering a medical episode on the way to hospital in South Gippsland.

Paramedics were called to the scene at Korumburra Secondary College about 8am on Sunday.

Principal John Wilson said in a statement a woman was driving her husband to the Wonthaggi Hospital when he suffered from the episode.

“To help manage this, she pulled into our bus loop where, unfortunately, the elderly man passed away,” Mr Wilson said.

“Police were called and attended, and all has now been cleared.

“Our thoughts are with the wife and family of the deceased man at this time, and anyone else affected by this.”

Korumburra local Shirley Arestia shared the news in a Facebook Korumburra community noticeboard.

“Our thoughts go out to the family who lost their loved one today,” Ms Arestia wrote.

“Deepest condolences to his wife and family and friends. Rest in peace dear sir,” Julie Ellen Thomas commented.

Mr Wilson said school operations continued as normal on Monday morning.
