A group of men are on the run after a street brawl in South Gippsland

A street fight in South Gippsland has lead to a police chase around a busy town.

Police have tracked a group of men around Leongatha.

A group of men are being pursued by police after getting involved in a brawl where a cricket bat was used, in a residential street.

Police responded to reports of a dispute between a group of people on Byrne St, Leongatha about 12.30pm Monday.

By the time police arrived the parties had left and the police helicopter was called to help find the men involved.

They were found by the helicopter about 2pm Monday near the Leongatha Recreation Reserve and ground police were called.
