A devastating fire has destroyed a home on Phillip Island

Fire has destroyed a home on Phillip Island, in a blaze that took crews over an hour to control.

A house has been destroyed by fire on Phillip Island in a busy few days for local CFA units.

The CFA and police were called to reports of a house fire on Milton St in Cape Woolamai about 2.45pm Wednesday afternoon.

When they arrived the house and nearby garage were consumed by flames.

Eleven CFA attended the scene and crews battled the fire, which had also spread to nearby grass and scrub.

After about an hour of fighting the blaze it was controlled at 4pm and declared safe shortly after 4.15pm.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire and all occupants are safe.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated throughout Thursday.
