Stuart Lee to be tried in Supreme Court for alleged Wheatsheaf murder

A man who allegedly set another man on fire near Daylesford will be tried for murder in the Supreme Court.

A man accused of killing another man by setting him on fire will face trial in the Supreme Court.

Police charged Stuart Lee, 63, with attempted murder following an altercation between him and a 69-year-old man in Wheatsheaf, near Daylesford, in March.

It was alleged Mr Lee set the older man on fire at a property on Wallaby Rd.

The victim was flown to The Alfred hospital, but died later that night.

Mr Lee appeared at Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to the charge

He will first appear in the Supreme Court in September.
