Stawell: Police arrest Melton South man following Long Gully incident

Customers got more than their fast food order near Stawell McDonald’s when the restaurant was the scene of a dramatic arrest.

Stawell McDonald’s was at the centre of dramatic scenes after police arrested a third man over an alleged aggravated home invasion following a month-long investigation.

Shane Kelly, 50, faced the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Friday over the alleged aggravated burglary on Excell St in Long Gully which occurred on December 1.

The Melton South man was arrested by police in Stawell around 3pm on Thursday and has been charged with aggravated home invasion, reckless conduct to endanger serious injury, prohibited person possessing a firearm, intentionally causing injury and threat to inflict serious injury.

Mr Kelly will return to court in February.

It is alleged the victim of the Excell St burglary was assaulted and threatened as shots were fired outside the Long Gully property shortly before midnight.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

It follows the arrests of a 33-year-old Pascoe Vale man and a 26-year-old Bundoora man on December 2 and December 12 concerning the incident.

They have been charged with aggravated home invasion, reckless conduct endangering serious injury, a prohibited person possessing a firearm, intentionally causing injury and threat to inflict serious injury.

The pair will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court in February.
