Offenders flee after brawl in Wendouree

A man has been flown to hospital and a group of offenders have fled following a fight in Wendouree near Ballarat on Monday night.

A man in his 40s is fighting for life after being set upon by a group of males in an attack in Victoria’s northwest.

The alleged assault took place on Fig Court in Wendouree near Ballarat about 8.15pm on Monday.

Emergency services responded to the incident and the victim was flown to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with an upper body injury.

He remains in a critical but stable condition.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said: “It’s believed a number of males assaulted a male on Fig Court just after 8pm.

“The offenders fled the scene in a vehicle and are yet to be located at this stage.”

Investigations remain ongoing and while the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined at this stage, it is believed the parties may be known to each other.
