Images released of ute said to be involved in lewd acts in Ballarat

Ballarat detectives have called for information about a ute driver believed to have performed lewd acts in front of children in Wendouree and Ballarat East.

Ballarat police have released images of a vehicle they believe to be involved in a series of lewd acts in the presence of children.

Ballarat Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Unit detectives detectives are appealing for public assistance following a series of lewd acts in the presence of children in Wendouree and Ballarat between April 10 and May 6.

On each of the six occasions, a grey or silver Mazda BT-50 ute with a freestyle cab, steel tray, silver bullbar, and dark-coloured wheels was slowly driven alongside pedestrians.

In five instances the male driver, believed to be a middle-aged caucasian man, allegedly exposed himself and performed a sexual act in the presence of the victims, police said.

On four of the occasions sexual acts were allegedly committed in the presence of children aged between 10 and 14.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The reported incidents occurred on the following dates and at the following locations.

– April 10 at 1pm in the vicinity of Norman Street and Daphne Street, Wendouree

– April 11 at 2pm in the vicinity of Grevillea Road and Gillies Street Wendouree

– April 18 at 8am in the vicinity of Norman Street and Forest Street, Wendouree

– April 29 at 9am in the vicinity of Stawell Street and Eureka Street, Ballarat East

– May 6 at 8.40am in the vicinity of Eureka Street and Kline Street, Ballarat East

– May 6 at 1.50pm in the vicinity of Gillies Street and Huntington Street, Wendouree
