School communities and friends are rallying to support the family of a central Victorian principal killed in a car crash earlier this month.

“Much-loved” teacher and principal Soraya Hepburn, 38, died in a crash at Lamplough on May 7.

Her family afterwards commemorated her, saying she spent more than a dozen years trying to “help children feel loved and like they could achieve anything”.

“She always thought about other people over herself,” sister-in-law Jacqui Swadling said.

“She was just the kind of person that made you happy and made you want to do better.

“Nothing was too hard if you needed her help.”

A fundraiser set up to contribute to Ms Hepburn’s daughters’ education has raised more than $2800.

Organiser Kate Morcombe called Ms Hepburn a “passionate educator”.

“Educating the whole child was central to who Soraya was,” she said.

“Her aim was to be able to have a significant impact on all she worked with, students, families and her colleagues.

“Soraya was kind and caring, her love of learning shone through in everything she committed to.”

Adele and Mackenzie Hepburn-Swadling, 16 and 13, attend Woodmans Hill Secondary College in Ballarat East.
