A teen accused of stealing a luxury car and breaking into homes across Ballarat will remain behind bars.

Fletcher Glenn McGuire, 18, is facing nine charges after an alleged crime spree over Thursday and Friday last week.

McGuire faced the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was remanded in custody.

He did not apply for bail.

Police allege McGuire stole a $60,000 Mercedes Benz at Lake Wendouree, as well as a Peugot sedan from Ballarat East, according to charge sheets.

McGuire is also alleged to have robbed a man of his shoes worth $219 at Wendouree.

Court documents state he trespassed into two homes with intent to steal while the residents were at home.

The charges come after a major police offensive on Friday morning which included a helicopter to track an allegedly stolen car through the CBD.

McGuire is charged with speeding through red lights, driving on the wrong side of the road and without a licence and placing others in danger of death, including on Sturt St.

He will return to court on February 22 for mention.
