Eaglehawk paedophile Stephen Sedgley jail for having sex with 15-year-old girl at party
A school dropout who had sex with a 15-year-old girl at an Eaglehawk party before repulsively saying of his victim’s virginity, “I took that”, lied about his crimes as it was revealed the father of two had a history of child porn crime.

A convicted sex offender had sex with a 15-year-old girl then made vile comments about her to a friend.
Stephen Sedgley, 22, was sentenced in the County Court to a minimum two years’ and six months’ jail after pleading guilty to charges including sexual penetration of a child under 16 years.
Sedgley had sex with his victim at a party at an Eaglehawk property in August last year.
Later that day, as Sedgley and friend drove to a supermarket, the fiend said he “f****d” his victim and “I can turn lesbians straight”.
The friend said that wasn’t possible because the victim was a “virgin”.
“Well I took that,” Sedgley said.
The victim reported Sedgley to police later that month and the fiend was arrested and charged on September 4.
Sedgley denied the offending and that he had any “physical contact” with his victim.
He also denied knowing his victim’s age and making lewd comments about her.
The court heard Sedgley — who was on bail and serving a community correction order at the time of the offending — has a “relevant” criminal history.
In July 2018, Sedgley was convicted of knowingly possess child pornography and communicate with a child under sixteen.
In November 2018, Sedgley was convicted of failing to comply with reporting obligations under the Sex Offender Registration Act.
Sedgley was convicted again on March last year for two breaches of the sex offender act.
The former Ballarat Secondary student moved around a lot during his childhood, the court was told.
Sedgley’s family later settled in Bendigo.
The school dropout gained work as a travelling shearer who sheared mainly sheep and alpacas.
Sedgley, a father of two, worked as a tyre fitter at Wedderburn Tyre Service from 2012 to 2013.
He then held jobs as a labourer and a general hand for a chicken breeder and spent periods on the dole.
The court heard Sedgley was “untruthful” to psychologists regarding his recollection of the offending.
“This statement does not sit well with the denials that you made to the police in your record of interview, nor your bragging in relation to your offending against your 15-year-old victim,” Judge Christopher Ryan said.
“I must take protection of the community from you into account, in arriving at an appropriate sentence in your case.”
Sedgley – who had spent 284 days in custody was jailed for a maximum four years and 10 months.
He was made a registered sex offender for life.
