Dryer believed to be cause of Norman Street, Ballarat North house fire

Police, firefighters, and paramedics were on scene at a Ballarat North home where a dryer is believed to have started a fire.

A dryer is believed to have caused a house fire in Ballarat North.

Fire broke out at a home on Norman St about 3pm on Wednesday.

Neighbours watched as a dog fled the property and emergency services arrived.

Firefighters donned breathing apparatuses and used hose lines to attack the fire, and the scene was under control by 3.30pm.

It’s understood a dryer is believed to have been the cause of the blaze, which has not been deemed suspicious, and with most of the damage occurring in the home’s dining area.

Police temporarily blocked off Norman St while firefighters worked in the property.

Nobody was present in the home.
