Ballarat vaccination centre now open: How to book your COVID-19 jab

Ballarat is the latest to open a high-volume vaccine centre for the COVID-19 jab. Here’s how locals can get theirs.

A mega vaccination hub has opened in Ballarat as part of Victoria’s bid to deliver a steady jab rollout for regional communities.

The high-volume vaccination centre opened on Monday, at the Mercure Ballarat.

Ballarat Health advised eligible residents to book ahead to avoid long wait times although walk-ins are available between 10am and 6pm from Monday to Friday.

Ballarat Health primary and community care executive director Craig Wilding said since the centre opened vaccines had been rolled out to the community.

“Since yesterday we have seen a great response from our community today with a steady stream of vaccine bookings via the State booking system, and a number of people over the age of 70 years walking in to be vaccinated,” Mr Wilding said.

“Appointments are preferred to avoid wait times, but it is very encouraging to see so many people from Ballarat rolling up with sleeve.”

Previously the Astra Zeneca vaccine was distributed to quarantine and border workers, frontline health care workers, and aged care and disability staff.

People aged 70 and older

From this week anyone aged 70 and over can receive the COVID vaccine from the centre.

Bookings are preferred, call 1800 675 398 to find a suitable time.

People aged 50 and older

From Monday, May 3, anyone aged 50 and older can receive the COVID vaccine.

Bookings are preferred, call 1800 675 398 to find a suitable time.

Vaccines must be booked through the State Government call centre on 1800 675 398 and cannot be booked through local Ballarat Health Services.
