A man allegedly on the run from police was taken down in a dramatic arrest at Woodman’s Hill Motel on Wednesday.

Ballarat police swarmed the motel on the Western Freeway after targeting a man who had allegedly checked in under a fake name.

It is believed they arrested a man wanted on outstanding warrants. Police could not confirm whether charges have been made.

Ballarat CIU Detectives and the Drug Squad swooped on the property at 10.30am.

Sue, who works as a cleaner at the motel, said it happened quickly.

“I was cleaning out a room and noticed all these police came out of nowhere, and stormed into room 15,” she said.

“It shocked the life out of me — police had their weapons out, you don’t see this kind of thing every day.

“Our hearts are still pumping a million miles per hour. Police did a good job, they didn’t tell us what the arrest was about though.”
