An erratic driver has been arrested after allegedly smashing their car in a Point Cook residential street

A Werribee South man has been arrested after allegedly smashing his car while on a 3am joy ride in Point Cook on Thursday.

An erratic driver – who allegedly smashed his car in a residential Point Cook street early on Thursday morning – has been arrested.

Police spotted a driver in a Volkswagen coupe allegedly speeding and driving recklessly on Point Cook Rd about 3.30am, before they lost sight of the vehicle for several minutes.

Police found the vehicle after they responded to reports of a collision in a Point Cook street.

The driver was arrested nearby assisting police with their inquiries.

No charges have been made and no injuries were reported.
