On Sunday, detectives from the Wodonga crime investigation unit arrested two men, a 41-year-old from Lavington and a 25-year-old Wodonga man, on Camp St in Beechworth.

Police allege the two men were involved in the burglary of “at least eight” businesses in the past two weeks.

“It’s alleged at least eight businesses were targeted with cash and registers usually stolen,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.

“The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.”

The spokesman said the two men have since been charged with alleged offences including burglary, attempted burglary, theft, criminal damage and going equipped to steal.

They were bailed and will next appear in the Wodonga Magistrates’ Court on February 7.
