A hardworking Wodonga truck driver has been left in a coma after a head on truck collision leaving his family facing an uncertain future as bills mount up
Wayne Pisarek was flown to a Canberra hospital along with another truck driver after their vehicles collided near the Rocks on July 3.
The New Zealander, who lives with his wife Sandra and their three daughters, sustained multiple fractures to his chest, sternum and legs during the accident.
“You do not expect your husband to go to work an to not come home,” Mrs Pisarek said.
The Pisarek family has been thrown into uncertainty after the accident.
“We are all squished up in a hotel room in five hours from home just so we can be by his bedside,” she said.
“We never saw anything like this coming.
“All we can do is hope for the best.”
Mrs Pisarek described her husband as a hardworking man who loves the rugby, the All Blacks and his three dogs.
One of his daughters Charli has started a GoFundMe to help with “all the unknowns” following the accident.
“We don’t know if the house will need modifications or what rehab he will need,” Mrs Pisarek said.
“I have also had to take time off work to be by his side.
“There is just no way known what Wayne will need for his recovery at the moment.”
The community has raised more than $2000 for the family in just five days.
