Wangaratta fire: Man seriously burned in shed blaze

A Wangaratta man in his 20s has been seriously burned in a shed fire.

A Wangaratta man in his 20s has been flown to hospital after he was seriously burned in a shed fire in Wangaratta on Thursday night.

Emergency services were called to fire on Raymond St and Murdoch Rd about 6pm.

A Fire and Rescue Victoria spokesman said crews arrived in five minutes to find the shed engulfed in flames.

“(Crews) quickly began to contain and suppress the fire while searching for occupants,” the spokesman said.

“The structure sustained significant damage.”

One man was taken to Northeast Health Wangaratta in a serious but stable condition with burns to his upper body.

He was later flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne.
