A bloodied Albury drug user forced his mum to pay off his drug debt, a court has heard.

Tim Andrew Gunn, 31, faced Albury Local Court on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited drug.

Gunn’s defence solicitor said his client had been beaten and given an hour to pay off his $400 drug debt on May 27.

Court documents showed Gunn knocked on the door of his mother’s Lavington home about 5am that day.

His mother let him in because his face was bleeding and when he asked for $400 she gave it to him.

Police attended the address to get a statement from Gunn’s mother about 9.55am.

They later found Gunn walking on Olive St in South Albury, where he was busted with 0.5g of ice.

Magistrate Richard Funston slammed Gunn’s selfishness.

“But that’s the problem with Mr Gunn, he only thinks of himself,” Mr Funston said.

He said it would have been scary for Gunn’s mother, having him at the house bloody and demanding money.

“It’s getting ridiculous the number of orders you’re on, and you keep breaching them because you keep using,” Mr Funston said.

“I feel like you would probably have a very good relationship with your mum if you weren’t using.”

Gunn was sentenced to four months in prison backdated to May 27 with a release date of September 26 2021.
