Since launching Miss Amelie Gourmet in Wodonga in September, chef David Kapay has expanded the brand to three more locations, with the newest store set to open in Albury next month.
When Mr Kapay had to close his restaurant, Miss Amelie, due to COVID-19 restrictions, he launched the gourmet food store with business partner Ken Little.
Miss Amelie Gourmet now has seven chefs working to make gourmet pies and take home meals.
Miss Amelie Gourmet opened its second store in Wagga Wagga on October 8 at the Australian Arcade, and is set to open another store in the Wagga Marketplace opposite Woolies.
Mr Kapay announced Miss Amelie will be opening a pop-up store at Myer Centrepoint in Albury next month in the old Colette space.
He said they will be moving into another permanent location within Myer Centrepoint in February 2021.
“We’ve identified that we need to get into the high traffic areas and there’s none better than the Myer Centrepoint and the Wagga Marketplace,” Mr Kapay said.
“We’re really looking to get our brand in front of more people annually.
“With COVID-19 still being painful and border closures, we know we’re not getting the Albury clientele and we feel like a lot of Wodonga people are going to Albury because there’s no masks.”
Mr Kapay said the new stores would be open in time for Christmas, with fresh products being made in Wodonga and delivered to the Wagga and Albury stores daily.
“We want to get in there and start trading for the Christmas period,” he said.
“The growth has come quickly from early business financial pressure, but every day is exciting and I’m really enjoying getting up to Wagga and meeting new people.
“You can’t really go wrong with a reputable brand and awesome quality food, they’re things that will never go out of fashion.
“It’s full steam ahead and we‘re super excited.”
Mr Kapay said Miss Amelie Gourmet’s Albury store would open in the second half of November.
