Joseph Dawson: Albury accused faces court after allegedly shooting a man in the face

A man charged with intent to murder, after allegedly shooting a an 24-year-old in the face in Albury, has faced court.

A man who allegedly shot another man in the face with a sawn-off, double-barrel shotgun has appeared in court.

Joseph Dawson, 23, faced the Albury Local Court today briefly — via video link from custody — facing charges of shoot at with intent to murder, discharge firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess loaded firearm endanger life non-public place, possess unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm, and use unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm.

Mr Dawson’s matter was adjourned for a release application on Friday, May 7.

Police will allege Mr Dawson shot a 24-year-old man in the face with a sawn-off shotgun at a Holmwood Crescent house about 5am on Sunday.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and neck and was taken to Albury Base Hospital, before being flown to hospital in Melbourne in a serious condition.
