Jayden Moon: Albury man accused of ramming cop car in 48-hour chase faces court

A Glenroy man accused of ramming a police car led officers on a 48-hour interstate police chase, a court has heard.

A man has been charged with more than 15 offences after he allegedly rammed a police car during a 48-hour car chase between Shepparton and Albury.

Jayden Moon appeared briefly before Albury Local Court on Tuesday, facing charges including dishonestly obtain property by deception, five counts of driving while disqualified, two counts of predatory driving, two counts of drive recklessly/furiously or in manner dangerous, police pursuit, possess/use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, and possess prohibited drug.

The 25-year-old Glenroy man is also facing charges of driving while disqualified, driving recklessly/furiously or in manner dangerous, common assault and stalking/intimidating to intend fear/physical harm in relation to another matter.

Police will allege during a Victorian and NSW police cross-border operation, Mr Moon was speeding through Albury in a white Mitsubishi sedan on April 28.

Police helicopters hovered above as the man allegedly led police on a chase which travelled as far as Kyabram and Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley.

Murray River police district officers tried to stop the driver while he was stationary in the car on Wantigong St, North Albury about 1.30am on Thursday, April 29.

When the man started to drive away, police gave chase, which continued through Lavington where a police car was rammed, smashing in the front end.

The man is alleged to have tried to run away on foot before being arrested a short time later on Griffith Rd.

He was also found in possession of suboxone film, a prescription drug used to treat those with opioid dependence.

Prosecution in Mr Moon’s matters will be moved to the Department of Public Prosecutions.

Mr Moon did not apply for bail, and will appear in Albury Local Court again on June 29.
