An Albury TAFE student bashed his classmate because he “dobbed” on him over a slammed door.

An Albury TAFE student left his classmate bloodied and bruised because he “dobbed” on him.

Jarrad Craig Jervis, 29, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Albury Local Court on Monday.

Court documents reveal Jervis and his victim, who were both taking an automotive class at Albury TAFE, got into an argument in the TAFE’s cafeteria after Jervis slammed a door about 10.40am on May 21.

Jervis confronted his victim again later that day in the classroom.

Jervis asked his victim: “Why did you dob me in?”

The victim replied: “Because you slammed it (the door) open.”

Jervis then grabbed the victim by the shirt and slammed him to the ground.

He tried to punch the victim but the victim grabbed Jervis’s fist, and pushed the offender away with his feet.

Jervis punched the victim, striking his forehead, nose, and lip, leaving him with bruising between the eyes and a bleeding nose.

“Why is this happening? I don’t even know you,” the victim said.

Jervis then got off the victim and returned to his seat.

The victim reported the incident to a TAFE counsellor and Albury police.

Jervis was arrested on May 28 at his Lavington home where he admitted to the attack and showed remorse.

Jervis’s defence solicitor asked for a six week adjournment to get a sentencing assessment report for his client.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Andrew Coombs said Jervis was on an intensive corrections order at the time of his offending.

Magistrate Richard Funston agreed to grant the adjournment.

“It’s a nasty example of an assault and he’s got a very serious criminal history,” Mr Funston said.

Jervis’s will reappear on August 30 for sentence. His bail was extended.
