The Wodonga community has thrown its support behind a nine-year-old girl’s fight against a critical illness.

More than $2000 has been raised for a “brave” Wodonga girl with a critical illness.

Hailey Wright, one of the seven children of Steve and Leah, was diagnosed with Myeloid Dysplastic Syndrome in late 2019.

The condition is often the onset to Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

The Wodonga 9-year-old had a bone-marrow transplant and was in remission, but ended up back in the Royal Children’s Hospital earlier this month after bleeding on her brain was discovered.

The “little superhero” now has a second bleed and will require brain surgery to treat the condition further.

While doctors perform tests to find out why the bleedings are occurring, family friend Blake Le Cornu has organised a fundraiser to help the family.

“Leah is in Melbourne with Hailey while Steve is with the rest of the family,” he said in a post to the GoFundMe account.

“This fundraising will help the family coming to and from Melbourne with daily living costs as they are unable to work and go towards any rehabilitation for Hailey”
